In no particular order, I will quickly tell you what's happened in my life lately.

*The Nutcracker 2011*

It has been quite a production! I had way more parts than I usually do (even a solo! Eek!) so I was dead tired. I would go to school, then go straight to my Nutcracker performances. I finally got the nerve to invite my friends to come see it, and most of them came! I would say that it's my best Nutcracker yet, and it is definitely the most fun :)

I loved dancing Marzipan! The costume is g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!

This is probably the most epic picture on the planet. At least to me it is, because I'm in the middle. Plus it's just an awesome picture. Dancing the Dew Drop Fairy was probably the most exciting thing I have ever done!

My parents were in again as some of the party parents. My mom also played Mother Hubbard! She was so cute! More pictures to come...

I made some great friends, and I have to admit, they're probably as weird as I am.

I had a major fast change in which I went from Arabian (tan tights, flat shoes, heavy skirt, etc.) to Marzipan (tutu, pink tights, pointe shoes, new headpiece). I had all of 2 minutes to do it. Luckily I had a lot of help!

Aw... my Nutcracker girls :)

Bruised toes, sore legs, knots in my ankles, makeup permanently stuck to my face, hairspray covering my hair, constantly in sweats, bobby pins, pointe shoes. That's the Nutcracker for ya.

And by golly, it was fun!

And.... that's all that's happened lately.

But now it's over, and now it's Christmas.

Look dad, it's a post!

I have neglected my blog! That has never happened before... there's always a first, isn't there? It's been a busy couple of months. I've been running on a little bit of sleep and applesauce!

This Friday is the beginning of our Nutcracker performances. I'm so excited, but I'm very nervous at the same time. We've been rehearsing so much, it's bound to be good!

My mom is Mother Hubbard this year! She's so cute.

Last week the performance group that I'm in performed at Christmas in Dixie. We wore flapper dresses and danced to a song called Bassa Nova. We were moving so fast the whole time, the only pictures we got were blurry!

Our family got together for Thanksgiving and we took a family picture. This is probably the first time that nobody has been pregnant or crying! We're a rather handsome bunch, aren't we?

I promise not to neglect my blog anymore.

Hello friends, it's been awhile! I've been busy, busy, busy. BUSY.

Remember when I said that I was going to wear every shirt in my closet? I'm not very good at putting together outfits, so it's been a bit difficult. Here's a very small peek at what I've been wearing.

Right after I decided to wear everything in my closet, we decided that we were moving back to our old house. I wore t-shirts probably everyday of the week. OH WELL. I'll get better once I get my room all sorted out.

Oh yeah! Bones, Merlin, and Fringe are back! That makes my life sooooo much better.

Homecoming 2011

Homecoming was so much fun! I did catch a cold in the process (not from kissing, Maria), but I didn't show up until afterwards! Let's just say that I was sooooo excited about my dress, hair, and makeup. I've never been that dolled up before!

My latest creation

Remember when I was in Ceramics 1 and I would show you all the stuff I made? Well you're in for a treat, I'm in Ceramics 2 now! I'm pretty sure you are jumping up and down with joy. Let me just say, it so so much more fun than Ceramics 1. He gives you more freedom and you get to use better glaze and clay. It's going to take awhile to remember how to throw a bowl correctly though... Anyway, here's my practice bowl.

How awesome is that glaze?! It would take forever to tell you how I did it, so you can just bask in it's awesomeness for now. I have another bowl that's ready to be fired, so that'll be what's next. But after that is my hand-built project! It's probably the most awesome thing I've ever made. Let's just hope it works out.

Do you know what FFA is? Well let me tell you. It's Future Farmers of America! There's a longer, official name, but I can't remember it... Anyway, I joined it for my greenhouse project. I'm their official photographer! They had an opening social on Wednesday. It was so much fun! We played mud football.

Before

Here's a little backstory on why I'm holding out my Mickey Mouse t-shirt. Mr. Dayley, my greenhouse teacher and FFA advisor, hates Mickey Mouse. I don't really understand why though. It's common for students to secretly plant Mickey Mouse related objects in his room. So I thought it would be pretty funny to wear my Mickey Mouse shirt. It resulted in him passing me the ball every chance he got so I would get pummeled into the mud. THANKS.

This was actually before I got thrown into the mud by my fellow FFA members by order of Mr. Dayley. So I'm relatively cleaner than everybody else.

My inspiration for my dress came from this picture. No, I did not make my dress, although I considered doing that for quite awhile.

But guess what.

IT'S SPARKLY! Like the skirt above! It's not something I usually wear, but hey, when will I ever be able to wear something with that much sparkle? Nowhere. Like I said, you won't be able to see the dress until after, because then you'll get the whole image. Ya know?

I was going to get a black version of this dress, but we couldn't figure out how to add sleeves to it. Plus, it just wasn't the one. I promise that I won't make such a big deal with all the other dresses, but this is my first dance, so I'm entitled to make a big deal. So there.

I really wish that I could wear these shoes with it. But no, they don't match. Sad day.

Remembering 9/11

My mind is blank on what to say. I have so many things that I could say about 9/11, I just don't know how to get them out. It was such a tragic day in our history, and I will never forget it.

So I pay tribute to the victims of 9/11, our American heroes.

Here in my town, it doesn't rain much. So when it does rain, you better get your bum outside and enjoy it! Veronica came over and we drove down to a stream that we had been wanting to go and explore for forever! I took this opportunity to wear my polka dot hat.

A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in class listening to the announcements. As I drew an abstract dementor on my paper (don't ask), they announced Homecoming.

Oh yeah, Homecoming, I'm old enough to go to that now.

Wondering if you are going to get asked or not is the worst thing in the world. You never know when it will be coming, or if it will come, so you become paranoid about who will ask you and how.

GAH!

Well I was paranoid for a whole week and a half before I got asked. I didn't even think I would get asked! But lo and behold, there was the first clue of the scavenger hunt in my car.

He sent me first to the library, where I found the next clue in some obscure book.

Then I drove up to the baseball fields, where the next clue was under second base.

That clue took me to a church, and the next clue was taped to a drinking fountain.

Then I was sent to McDonalds where I found the next clue on the sign.

That clue took me to Dairy Queen, where I had to look under all the seats. That one got me a lot of weird looks.

The last clue took me back home, where I found the last envelope.

(All the clues were attached to envelopes which had puzzle pieces inside)

And viola! I figured out who it was!

I had a feeling it was Myles the whole time! Let me just say, I'm glad it was him! We're good friends so we'll have a blast.

I answered him in a rather simple way. I was going to send him on another huge scavenger hunt, but that's a lot of work! So I just took him some Reeses Pieces with balloons attached that said, "Don't go to pieces, because I'll go to Homecoming with you!"

And no, you don't get to see my dress yet. You'll just have to wait till after September 24th!

So here in Hurricane we have this thing called Peach Days. There's a HUGE parade, booths, excellent food, entertainment, baking contests, a quilt show, fireworks, and my favorite, the Candy Cannon! It's basically a cannon that someone made and every hour they shoot candy into the sky and everybody scrambles for it!

I had never really enjoyed Peach Days until this year. I had always just walked around, looked at the quilts and eaten a customary Peach Days Navajo taco. But this year was different! I was in the parade on the Hurricane FFA (Future Farmers of America) float, which was super fun!

The shirts this year are pretty awesome.

Then afterwards I went and helped out a little with the rodeo, which was awesome because I've never been to one before. Then I went back to Peach Days and spent the entire day there! I listened to my mom sing, which was fabulous because she's so amazing. Then Veronica, Yok, and I spent the whole day eating food, looking at the booths, listening to the entertainment, and we even went and watched a fiddling contest! My mind was blown. I now aspire to become a fiddler.

We listened to this band most of the time, they were super good! There were some pretty awesome fireworks afterwards.

The whole day was pretty much the best day ever! It taught me to enjoy the little things in life like getting free peaches, getting super messy while eating a Navajo taco, and listening to good, live music! I can't wait till the next Peach Days!

This is my cat, she sleeps all day.

I wish I were a cat sometimes. Sleeping sounds very good right now.

I have dance Monday through Thursday, and so far, MY MUSCLES KILL. Meaning they hurt like heck. My teachers are basically bending and stretching us back into flexibility. Nutcracker auditions are this Friday, why so soon?! I'm crossing my fingers that I won't mess up.

I tried to learn how to breakdance by watching online videos.

I wish I looked like this in my sleep. But no, this was a photo taken to show Veronica my newly dyed hair. You can still see the dye stains on my hairline! Oh well.

And again, I wish I was having dreams. But lately I haven't been able to get to sleep due to having a song stuck in my head. The same song, for a week. It's torture. And I'm really worried about this because all this lack of sleep, some due to the song, some due to Harry Potter, I have been very lethargic this past week. I can't have that because school starts tomorrow! And I can't doze in the car, because I'll be driving the car, and that would be very dangerous.

I'm really falling behind in my posting. Blame Harry Potter. I've been rereading all the books!

There is exactly one more week till school starts. Um..... not so sure what to think about that. My hair better cooperate on the first day and on picture day. I'm crossing my fingers on that one.

I'm going to be a Junior. No longer a Sophomore, and I am SO happy about that.

Every year my dad and I enter pictures in the county fair! I completely forgot about taking pictures for the fair, so my dad looked through my pictures and picked out a couple that I took. I hope they win something!

I saw the midnight premier of HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART TWO!

It blew my mind and I was so happy about the way it turned out. I was soooo excited to see it! We had to get tickets early because it sold out quickly!

Today, the whole sky is filled with clouds. So much that there isn't a gap. So I drew a cloud!

Whenever someone does a photo challenge on the blogs that I stalk (I admit it, I'm a major blog stalker), they always seem to miss a few days. I always thought: Psh, I would do it every day without fail.

I'm not very good at taking self portraits. I look like I'm about to cry. But hey, my hair is looking longer! Also, my drivers license picture is not hideous. It is actually pretty good! I'm waiting to get the actual plastic one in the mail. I can't wait!

Girl's Camp 2011

I'm back.

Actually, I got back last Saturday. I've just been procrastinating putting this post together. The point is, I'm back from Girl's Camp!

This year, our theme was Mission Possible. They gave each of the wards a mission calling to a different country. Ours was South Korea! The result of that was eating rice everyday and not being allowed to use forks, only chopsticks. It was so much fun though!

I consider ourselves privileged to have this campsite. It is far away from all the other camps, so we can be as loud as we want! It's also bigger :)

And of course, none of this would have been possible without our wonderful leaders and bishop!

The Bishop's daughter, and one gorgeous girl. Her family considers me their adopted daughter, so I could say that she's my sister too.

We are the only Laurels in our ward, so we were camp buddies! In this picture, she was conquering her fear of heights. She tried 7 times to get to the top, and she finally did it! She is the most positive person that I have ever met. Her motto is: Smile! :)

Melisha!

If you ever need someone to talk to when you can't sleep due freezing cold temperatures, go to her. She has an endless supply of subjects to talk about! She has some awesome stories about her country, Samoa. She's also very funny.

Sela!

Sela, Sela, Sela. She is so awesome. She's also a great canoe-er! Sela and I paddled around the lake for two hours! Which resulted in a mean farmers tan. She re-sprained her wrist while canoeing, and it was hurting her really bad, but she was so brave! We were also camp buddies. I am so glad that I got to know her, and I'm so excited that she's coming to the high school next year!

We did a lot of fun stuff at camp, but I'm going to summarize a lot of it. But one thing that I do have to tell you about is pretty monumental for me. I had a lot of time on my hands while all of the other girls were on their hikes, so I picked up a hula hoop that someone had gotten from their Secret Sister.

And I started hula hooping.

For 1 hour and 32 seconds.

While hula hooping, I walked around camp, ate some food, sang songs, and even trimmed my nails. I don't think anybody is going to try and break my record.

Another thing on the fun list was zip lining!

That was one long zip line. Honestly, it wasn't scary at all. The only scary part was getting up on this rickety platform and stepping off into space. After that it was great!

When my parents came up to camp on Friday, they went on the zip line too! I have to admit, I was having a panic attack for them because I didn't know what they would think of it!

They're so cute.

Later that night we had our Stake Activity. I don't think any Stake Activity could top the one we had last year. That one was simply amazing. But this one came pretty close! They called it: A Walk With Christ. They had us carry two large stones in each hand to represent the burdens that we carry. We had to go through different obstacles, but with each obstacle, we had something to help us. That represented Christ helping us along the way.

This one was the one that I liked the best. Even though being blindfolded was pretty scary (I swear, they had us walk right along a cliff at one point.) There were people along the way encouraging you and sometimes guiding you were to go. At one point, we had to stop and wait for someone to come and help us along a rough part. The lady that came to help me immediately enveloped me in a huge hug and said that I probably didn't remember her, but she was the one that helped me into my harness for the zip line. I don't remember her name, but she knows my family somehow. Her hug was so warm and inviting, I didn't want to leave!

Each of the girls had to help each other onto the table until all the girls had gone over the table. This whole time we were still holding our stones.

Then we had to walk up hills and around tires with these things. It's harder than it looks! Holding the stones didn't really help.

This one was called: Lean on Prayer. You had to lean on your partner while walking on a thin board. The two boards became farther and farther apart as you went along, so it made it harder. But if you really trusted your partner, you could make it all the way.

At the end, we all walked to a meadow and sang I Feel My Savior's Love with my mom accompanying on the guitar. Then we each went and laid our stones, or burdens, at Jesus's feet. It was really amazing and spiritual.

I had so much fun at Girl's Camp and I am so glad that I went! I certainly can't wait till next year :)

Next up, Youth Conference!

That doesn't happen till July, but I'm still excited for it!

This post is dedicated to my awesome dad.

He is a master photographer! He's taught me everything I know about photography. Here are some of his amazing photos.

My dad is an amazing man. No matter what he does, he is awesome in my eyes. I can't imagine having any other dad! He puts up with my quirks quite wonderfully, and he always keeps me on my toes!

Things I learned from my dad:

After saying something wise and inspiring, always put 'that's what I always say' at the end of it.

When giving talks in church, don't make a huge speech about how you got called by the Bishop at the most inconvenient time in your life to give you the news that you're giving a talk. And also don't say that you prepared it last night. No one wants to know.

Don't litter.

You can never have too much junk!

More butter on things is always good.

Use the rule of thirds when taking pictures.

and...

You can make anything out of door jams!

I have never seen so much red in my life. Actually, that one time I ate all those cherries, that was a lot of red. Never mind.

Here's a red flower.

Oh look! Someone in a red dress who just happens to be standing by a cherry tree! What a coincidence. That person is me, by the way. I decided that I needed to document what I wore when I gave my second talk in church. I rather like that dress. It's really comfortable.

I had to talk about my trip to Palmyra. But since that was four years ago, I don't remember much! So I talked about what I remember most clearly, and that is the Sacred Grove. Gosh I love that place! I was practically rambling when I got up to speak because I forgot half my talk as soon as I saw all the people in the audience. I was completely calm when I was sitting in my seat, but when I took those three steps to the microphone, something changed and I ended up shaking like a leaf. It was quite an experience.

I'm so glad it's over!

I told my dad that we needed some pictures of me on this momentous day, so we went to the cherry tree, and I ate cherries while he took pictures.

We managed to get a couple good pictures of me, but I'll only put one up.

Funny story about the earrings. So I'm putting them on this morning when I think: I wonder if I start shaking when I'm speaking, if my earrings will shake too... that would be pretty distracting.

So I changed my earrings to non-dangly ones and put the dangly ones in my scripture case, which I changed into after my talk. It was actually a good plan, seeing as I was shaking so hard. I probably caused another wave of earthquakes in Japan, it was that bad.

The good thing is, it's over. I hope never to have to speak again. Like that will happen.

I can only dream!

I laugh because it's fun. So I find things to laugh at. Here are some of the few things that I found.

And when I say few, I mean few. I found TONS of stuff.

My dad set up a black background so we could take some cool pictures of the irises that are blooming outside our front door. I only got like two good ones, but my dad got many! He always does, he's a master.

SCHOOL IS OVER.

Cue the upbeat music and backup dancers.

I can't believe it! This school year went by so fast, it's ridiculous. Bring on the sleeping in fest!

On the other bright side, I will never have to take Spanish again! You have no idea how happy that makes me. Whenever I laid awake at night worrying, it was because of Spanish. Whenever I was stressed out to my maximum, it was because of Spanish. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the language, but the classes were a living heck.

YIPEE! School is over!

I drove with an instructor for the first time today. Let's just say that I can't wait to finish the driving. I want to get it over with as soon as I can. It is so nerve wracking! Sheesh.

To celebrate the end of school, we did yearbook signing. The yearbooks this year were... busy. Busy, busy, busy. You could hardly read anything that they had on the page. It was as if they were going wild with all the stuff offered on the yearbook program.

'Hey! That's cool, let's put it on the page 10 times!'

And my dad scoffed at the bad quality of the pictures. But it was fun! Then, when I got home, I ran outside in my bare feet and took pictures of flowers. Then I roamed the neighborhood looking for more flowers I could stick my camera into.

He is Risen!

Until this year, Easter had never really had a profound effect on me. It had always been about Easter eggs and candy. I thought about the Savior, but I never really understood the great thing that he did for us.

I went to the Carl Bloch exhibit in Salt Lake this weekend. Bloch is an amazing artist who is able to put a lot of feeling into his paintings. But the one painting that really stuck out to me, and probably changed my life, is not one that is well known. It is called Down From the Cross. I stood there staring at it for a long time, nearly moved to tears. The painting depicts Jesus being taken down from the cross. It shows the ladders they used to get him down, and it shows them laying him on a white cloth. In the bottom corner of the painting it shows the nails, and the crown of thorns that had been reverently laid on a cloth. I had never even thought about that part of that whole ordeal. At that moment, Jesus was dead. His spirit had left his body. He had gone through a horrible ordeal, just so we could return to our Father in heaven. I can't even imagine what it would have been like for those men, to have to take down their Savior's body from a cross. I can only imagine their joy when he was resurrected!

So I challenge you this Easter, and all this year, to think about what Christ did for us.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, Amen.

I'm not a big fan of people who put bad quality cellphone pictures as their profile picture on Facebook. Was that a run-on sentence? And yet here I am, with exactly that. I feel like I'm going against all that I believe in! At least it's not one of me looking in a mirror and puckering my lips. Now that's a big pet peeve of mine.

Here is the picture. Bad quality (shiver...), and bad lighting. But who cares?! I like my earrings.

Whilst battling over whether I feel okay having a bad quality picture on Facebook, I planned my seminary devotional. It's going to be on Easter! I picked this particular time to give it because I love to talk about Easter, and I don't want someone going up there with a bored look on their face just to read a scripture mastery. That's another one of my pet peeves. So I am going all out. Actually, all I'm doing is showing a video from lds.org, and reading a scripture. But it's going to be PROFOUND I tell you. PROFOUND.

I turned 16 yesterday. I didn't really think that I was going to have a fun birthday, because I hadn't planned anything fun. BUT THEN, my fabulous friend Wanda threw me a surprise party! It was so awesome! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Everyone who came is awesome and gorgeous!

We all gathered around and discussed our first activity, making ice cream! We put all the ingredients into a tin can, duct taped it up, and started the relay race. Kicking it, a wheelbarrow race, and a three-legged race.

The ice cream was delicious.

We then went inside and was surprised to see plastic all over the floor. Underneath the plastic were paper "tables". We enjoyed our meal on the floor. :) I was surprised at how excited everyone was to eat on the floor!

The meal was as delicious as the ice cream.

We then moved to another table, and enjoyed my birthday cake!

Then we moved on to present opening! I got great presents from everyone. I also got a lot of chocolate, which I was very happy about.

After present opening, we played a game called: In the Manner of the Adverb. The game was so much fun, we played it for two hours! My mom said that she hasn't laughed that hard in a very long time.

I am so glad that Wanda planned that party. I couldn't have had a better birthday! I celebrated my actual birthday by eating at JB's, shopping, and watching some ballroom dancing. I am so tired, I almost fell asleep in church today.

I was in a rather mellow and deep thinking mood today. As I sat on the couch reading 1 of 6 books I checked out from the library, I thought about purposeful things. As my mind wandered, I started thinking about what pictures I had taken that had a purpose.

I only take pictures of flowers, I thought. But then I remembered that I had tagged along with a couple of picture taking geniuses while they took my sister and her husband's wedding pictures. I was mostly there because my dad had asked me if I wanted to come. He handed me a camera and told me to take pictures of whatever I wanted. The pictures that I took were mostly of the wedding couple, but they were never looking at my camera because they were focused on the other two cameras. I thought my pictures came out rather well actually.

So, as they were wandering around the temple grounds, I decided to go check out the flowers (I'm obsessed with them) by the visitors center. I decided to try and get a shot of the wedding couple with a flower incorporated in it. And this is what I came up with:

Unfortunately, I didn't know that these were roses. So as I leaned into the flowers and got myself situated practically inside the flower bush (I think the Visitor's Center missionaries were a little miffed that I was laying on top of their roses), I took a couple of pictures. I was satisfied with them, so I started to get out of the bush. Only then did I realize that I was stuck in the thorns! It must have been quite a show, seeing me try to get out of that. It was all worth it though, because this is my favorite picture of all the pictures I've taken.

You may think it's not that great, but I don't care, I love it.

I smell like baby spit. But that's okay because we have hyacinths in our yard! These lovely smelling flowers are the highlight of my life. I could spend all day smelling them. But it's been impossible to get what I consider a good picture of them. SIGH. Oh well, I'll just have to wait for good lighting at all that jazz.

I personally love the light pink ones. I'm not a big fan of pink, but these sure are gorgeous!

We also have plum blossoms and lavender in our yard, but the blossoms don't smell like anything, and the lavender hasn't bloomed yet.

I was going to clean my room today, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Instead I'm celebrating Pi Day!

I know that I ALWAYS talk about flowers, but hey, I love flowers. I started taking pictures of flowers back in 2009. My goal is to get the prettiest pictures I can. I'm kind of obsessed with flowers and rain, so for two years I have been trying to get a picture like the one below.

This was one of the first pictures that I took. I seriously had a gold streak with my pictures of flowers. But now... I just can't take the right pictures! It's probably because it's winter. Winter throws me off. BUT, flowers are starting are coming back! Yes.

I am so excited for when lilacs finally bloom!

And... the blossoms are here! I absolutely love blossoms. I have like 50 pictures of them. I can't get enough. Anyway, now that I've had my usual say about flowers, onto the mime stuff.

At school, I'm in the FCCLA club. I can never remember what it stands for, but it's something like Family-Consumer-something-Leaders-of-America. Anyway, we were in charge of planning and decorating for the Preference dance. This is the only dance that has a theme, so we had a lot of work ahead of us. The theme was A Night in Paris.

We spent ALL DAY Friday decorating. It took forever, but it turned out really awesome. Since I wasn't old enough to ask anyone to the dance, I didn't really have anything to do, so Veronica and I volunteered to be mimes! We didn't have to paint our faces (phew), but we definitely tried to act the part. I think we actually had more fun being mimes than we would have if we had actually had a date.

We had our own little station where we would blow up balloons for people and act like mimes. I think we were actually the entertainment. People were watching us the whole dance! We were pretty proud of ourselves because we got a lot of compliments on our little act. The DJ was actually playing songs for us so we could dance to them! It was so much fun and I didn't want it to end! I got home really late though. But that's okay! I had fun.

I had a huge Spanish exam today. I PASSED! I thought I was going to fail horribly, but I didn't! Phew. That's a weight off my shoulders. Now all I have to do is pass my Foxtrot test and I'll be done!

Well my friends, love life, love flowers, and it'll be all good.

Hey look, a creation!

This was my friend's birthday present. I was going to make her a patchwork bag like I did for Veronica (I neglected to take pictures of it), but I decided that I wanted to try something different. So I sat there, staring at my fabric stash, and this idea was born. My mom thought up the handle though.

I'm not very good at choosing fabric that goes together. Lucky me this was a collection.

My mom was practically swooning over the handle. It's probably because she thought it up. I must admit, it's pretty cool. Anyway, my friend really liked it, which is a plus.

I always seem to be sick. I now have a stuffy nose and I seem to be using up all the tissues in the house. At least I know that I'll be better in a few days. Hopefully.

Karate chop winter out of the way!

Have I ever mentioned that I really don't like winter? First of all, everything's dead. Second, there are very few flowers. Third, it's cold. I don't like the cold. But never mind that, Hurricane is having lovely weather. Actually, it's raining right now, but that's okay because I like rain. But I'm kind of bummed because I haven't been able to get outside to enjoy the weather. Earlier this week I got really sick with an adenoid infection. It's like strep throat, but worse. I am slowly recovering, and I can't wait to get outside.

Spring! I love spring. I was born in the spring, which makes it the best season in my perspective.

I like all flowers, except carnations. I'm not a big fan of carnations. They remind me of bowtie pasta. But I do love tulips. Tulips, poppies, sunflowers, daisies, roses, I'll take pictures of all of them.

Well, I don't really have anything to talk about. I just found that old picture of a tulip that I took and I got really excited for spring.

This is I, the first day of school. I'm tan from being out at the farm, and I had just barely trimmed my hair. I stare longingly at the computer, sad for summer to be over, and yet excited for the new school year. I'm a sophomore after all. You can still see the tired look in my eyes from waking up at 2 in the morning for a week and a half. (I had gotten back from the farm two days before this). I was rocking the Beatles shirt.

And this is me 6 months later. I'm not tan, I had just barely gotten out of the shower, and this picture was taken 5 minutes ago. I don't look as tired, and I'm rocking my school P.E shirt. I know it's not a big change, but in that first picture, my hair was SHORT. I'm growing my hair out now. It is taking forever. But, I shall prevail.

March 4th is Preference. No, I'm not going, but I am in the club that is in charge of it. So I'll be in the background... watching everybody... handing out refreshments. It'll be a blast! Plus, I'll be dressed up as an Italian baker. We'll have crepes that will blow your socks off. The theme is A Night in Paris. I'm actually really excited to decorate for it. There's going to be a huge Eiffel tower in the middle of the room! Awesome.

I wonder if she practices witchcraft. Okay, that was mean. But I seriously wonder about her. I would also like to say that they need to do a little research into the ladies fears, because they keep on picking dates that they are all scared of! But whatever.

I've come to the conclusion that I do not like small pictures. I never have. With a small picture, you can't see all the details and beauty! But with a big picture, it brings out the beauty and awesomeness! Oh, just look for yourself.

I'm having a good 2011 so far! I knew this year was going to be good. It better stay that way! All in one year I am going to turn 16, get my drivers license, and I'm going to keep my room clean! This is going to be one momentous year.

I never knew I liked basketball. I always just brushed it off because I've never been good at it. I remember going to my brother's basketball games, but that's basically it. Well, I guess I've gone to church ball. That's pretty fun. I went to a school basketball game yesterday. I was probably the loudest screamer there! I was screaming at the ref, screaming at the players, and screaming just for the fun of it! Surprisingly my voice isn't hoarse. I got so worked up that after the game my legs were all shaky from all the jumping up and down I was doing. My friend Naomi and I are now basketball game buddies. Our yells and screams combined could probably drown out the whole crowd. Long story short, I'm going to keep on going to basketball games. I'm going to be my school's number one fan.

Veronica had the funniest reaction to eating sourdough bread for the first time. It was hilarious! Let's just say that she thinks it's nasty and she never wants to eat it again. My mom said that it's probably an acquired taste, and from that came a confusing conversation:

Megan: That means that you sometimes like it over time.

Veronica: Medium.

Megan: What?

Veronica: Medium!

Megan: I said that it takes awhile to like it.

Veronica: I know, I want it medium.

Megan: What are you talking about?

Veronica: I want my bread to be toasted medium.

Megan: ... wha-... never mind.

Sometimes I think she just tunes me out.

I am happy to say that my dancing has improved a TON since this picture was taken. I am very proud of myself. In fact, I have mastered pirouettes on the left side. TAKE THAT LEFT SIDE PIROUETTE DOUBTS! I'm on my way to becoming a pro! Ha, like I will ever get to that level. Nope.

Nutcracker's fun. You should try it sometime!

Veronica cringes every time I crack my knuckles. I am happy to report that cracking your knuckles does not cause arthritis, so crack away my knuckle cracking friends! Let out that synovial fluid and gas!

I enrolled in Social Dance at school this year. I'm not used to dancing with someone else, it's strange. BUT, it's way fun. Everyone still doesn't know everybody really well, so that's a downer. Nobody is really getting into it quite yet. We're doing the Cha Cha and it's kind of awkward to shake your hips while dancing with someone you barely know.

We had to introduce ourselves to each other. This is how it went most of the time:

I am so glad it is 2011. It is so much easier to write.

I don't really have anything to post about. Actually, that is the case most of the time I blog. So I just try and make really boring stuff sound really interesting. I'm not sure if it works, but I'm going to keep trying.

AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER

I am pretty much (still) obsessed with that picture of Aang Earthbending. Heck, I've been obsessed with Avatar for a long time. In fact, I got all three seasons on DVD for Christmas. Veronica is very jealous of all the bonus features I get to see. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, AVATAR IS AWESOME.

This is still associated with Avatar. Suki is so cool, and this picture is cool. I am considering being her for Halloween. The face paint is awesome.

SCOTTIE BLACK LICORICE

Too bad they don't sell these in Hurricane anymore. It's practically the only type of black licorice that I like. So. Good. My mom got a whole tin box of them. She better lock those up because I've already been snitching some.

SHOES

I've been obsessed with shoes for a very long time. I don't think I could wear heels THAT high, but I do like heels. Shoes, shoes, shoes. I love 'em.

SCARVES

Who DOESN'T like scarves? By the way, I really like that red one.

MY TEETH

I've been obsessed with my teeth for a very long time. I don't have very many self esteem problems (probably because back in my awkward stage I swore to myself that I would never have self esteem problems. I'm stuck with this body, so I might as well appreciate it.), but my teeth have always annoyed me. Oh, just see for yourself.

Megan. 11 years old. Bad teeth. I never smiled with my mouth open (this was an exception). I absolutely did not want metal braces (due to my brother having them on for FIVE YEARS.) so when my dentist suggested Invisalign, I readily agreed. I only had Invisalign for a year and a half, and nobody even noticed them. Although they were a pain, I like the results.

Too bad I'm STILL insecure about them. Smart little me forgot to wear my retainer, and now it doesn't really fit. I still complain that from the side, my teeth look crooked (they do!). It's probably because of my large front teeth and how they stick out practically a millimeter (that's a lot in teeth terms) from my other teeth. So, at this moment, my teeth are really my only insecurity.

THIS PICTURE

I can never seem to get a good picture of this. It used to be at Disneyland. It is the most awesome picture of Mulan I have ever seen. I want a huge copy of this hung up in my room.

Swan Lake. I have always wanted to wear that costume. I convinced my dance teacher to let us learn dances from different ballets (Coppelia, Romeo & Juliet, Swan Lake). It is going to be AWESOME.

Marvelous picture. I actually have a flamenco skirt. It's black and fantastically twirly.

THIS BOUQUET

How creative is that? Very. It's made out of brooches. Timeless, cool, and nifty. I am considering doing that same thing for my wedding bouquet.

PONYTAILS

Now that my hair is finally long enough to look good in a ponytail, I wear them all the time. Let's just say that I never wore a different hairstyle all through 3-5th grade, and sort of all through 6-8th grade. Then I cut my hair really short and that was the end of my ponytail days. I love ponytails.

PSYCH

I think this is my favorite show. Ever. The picture explains it all.

I just have to say that I am still obsessed with all these things. Oh yeah, I forgot to put french toast on the list. Wow, I am all of the sudden craving a mayonnaise and cheese sandwich. It is so much better than it sounds. And I just realized that I always get cravings for food when I'm blogging. Do you think that's psychological? Maybe.

I just spent 4 days in California. It was fun, apart from the 7 hour drive and the Little Einstein's movie playing over and over again. But that's okay, it was cute hearing Hattie sing the theme song. Anyway,

LOS ANGELES.

My dad took this from on top of Griffith Observatory. I love that place! Too bad it's closed on Monday, which happened to be the day we went there. The outside of the observatory is still awesome though.

I think this is a statue of famous scientists. Isaac Newton, Galileo... I don't remember the other ones.

Then we went to the Los Angeles Zoo! It was so gorgeous and awesome! We all had a blast.

We went to the Exposition Center to go look at all the Science stuff. I wish it would have had more hands on stuff, but it was way awesome.

Hattie in the Hurricane Stimulator.

They had a way awesome aquarium in the ecosystem section. Veronica and I were like little kids, running around looking at all the fish. It was so cool! But, the aquarium in Albuquerque is way cooler.

This was in the River section. You would blow air on it to see currents on the "river". It was so pretty.

Outside the Exposition Center. I don't know what Veronica's looking at, but it must be cool.

Then we went to the Celebrity Walk of Fame. I have never been so scared of being robbed, kidnapped, or mugged in my life. But after I locked arms with Veronica and my dad, I felt alright. It was way cool to be able to see all those things. Especially....... FRED ASTAIRE'S HANDPRINTS, FOOTPRINTS, AND SIGNATURE!

He is my idol.

Isn't that great?! Clever.

Then we got roped into taking a picture with Elmo. It was kind of weird, I don't know what is with the necklaces. I would have rather had a picture with Darth Vader or Zorro.

Then we went to a HUGE mall right on the Celebrity Walk. HUGE.

Luggage Salesman: Have you thought much about luggage, Mr. Banks?

Joe Banks: No.

Luggage Salesman: It's the central preoccupation of my life.

We saw this in some expensive bag store. We were all instantly drawn to it, quoting Joe Versus the Volcano.

I am going to be so sad when Jackie Chan dies. May he live in awesomeness.

Abbey Road

The famous picture of The Beatles on what I am assuming, is Abbey Road.

It's quite a likeness. Except mine is not a wonderful quality and we are all looking at the camera... and we are all girls.

I just thought I would share that with you.

And guess what I have for you. Yup, you guessed it. MY LATEST CREATIONS.

I gave this one to my sister for Christmas. I must admit, it didn't turn out the way I thought it would. Meaning it shrunk like two sizes smaller in the kiln, but that's okay!

Another mug! Mugs are not my speciality, but we had to make three of them, so... here's another mug. I had to wait FOREVER to get this one back. My teacher was having trouble with the temperature in his kilns, but I eventually got it back. Which reminds me, I still have something that I'm waiting for. I'll have to get it when I get back to school.

Christmas was wonderful! I got stuff, I stuffed myself with stuff, and everyone got stuff. I shouldn't have had all that sugar, I'm feeling a little sick. But that's okay! I'm going to California tomorrow with my family and best friend. She's never seen the beach, and she was born in California! That's weird. Anyway, we're going to have a blast.

Christmas Eve Eve

Yeah, guys. It's okay to be smart.... and to have a messy countertop.

Today we had the Murset's over. Meaning Tyler and Monica's family. We had a lot of fun playing games and such.

Nathan even beat Grandma (What do I call her? My mom, grandma, grammy, grandmother, mother... whatever) at Brain Quest!

Meanwhile, Grandpa (Dad, father, grandfather, grandpappy) did some ballet moves in the kitchen/living room area.

I just stood around taking pictures, getting my hair cut, wrapping presents, playing I Spy... I just realized that I need to iron these jeans.

We got our Christmas tree up two weeks ago. The lights are on a white string, not a green one, so they kind of stand out. That's okay though. We had to move the presents into another room so the kids wouldn't start ripping them open.

Today was a pretty good Christmas Eve Eve. Now I'm just waiting for Veronica to get over here. It seems like it's taken her 50 years just to wrap presents. *SIGH* Oh yeah, and I'm doing laundry.

I made your bags yesterday, Meliss. I made sure that yours is PERFECT. It even has a bigger pocket than the other ones (but maybe that's because the bag IS bigger than the others). Anyway, I'm jealous of that fabric. Good choice! At least I have some scraps!

The Nutcracker is OVER. That's such a relief! I'm looking forward to next year though.

Oui. I would like some more fudge and candy canes. Oui, and some molasses candy with nuts. Ah, oui. J'aime Christmas treats.

And that is what I think about when I am sitting around waiting to get ready for Nutcracker.

The Nutcracker is going well. Last night almost every seat in the theater was full! And lemme tell you, there are A LOT of seats. I have never seen it that full! So that was quite an accomplishment. Tonight is our last performance! That makes me sad, this Nutcracker (in my opinion) has been our best one yet! It was a really good year and for some of my friends it is their last time doing it! I'm going to miss them a lot.

Meanwhile, I have been making my best friend's Christmas present. I don't have to worry about her looking at this because her computer is broken. Unless she lied to me about not being able to get it fixed... oh well. This present turned out about 2 times bigger then I thought it would. It never tells you what the finishing size is going to be in my book of bags, but it's still pretty cool.

Yup, I made that all by myself. It's probably my best bag yet! It only took me about an hour, which is pretty awesome. My dad concluded that you could probably fit about four watermelons in this bag.

I was going to put the shirt and hat that I got her inside the bag, but I decided that the bag would probably swallow them up, so I just stacked them on top of each other.

Then I put it into this box with this label. I wrapped it in some festive paper afterwards.

You like? I sure do.

Well people. I have already done three performances. I have already gotten lots of praise for my dancing in Arabian, so I'm going to show you some Arabian pictures. I'll show you the rest of the dances later. I'm just so proud of Arabian!

This costume (besides the Snow costume) is my favorite. I don't like that it shows my stomach, but I absolutely LOVE the foot bangle and the arm bangles. I love the velvet skirt. But my favorite is the foot bangle.

This is my favorite picture of this dance. Even though it's kind of blurry, I just think it catches the alluring sense of this dance. My teacher says it's our goal to lure in the audience. I think we did that quite well :) Don't believe me? COME WATCH IT. It's awesome.

Amber (my teacher that taught me this dance) said that we are supposed to change the whole mood of the ballet with this number. It goes from a sassy Spanish dance to a light Chinese dance. Then, all of the sudden, the lights dim, and two curtains come out. They eventually reveal the three Arabians in their amazing clothes and gold shoes. The Arabians stare at the audience with their huge eyes and lure the people into becoming entranced with the slow music and dancing.
